Dental Cement Packaging Solutions
A client in the dentristry industry came to Liquipak needing a two-part dental cement packaging solution in a single use, side-by-side packet. The dental cement was composed of a base and an accelerator, and was designed to be used together. To achieve this requirement, we developed a custom side-by-side configuration packet that had two tapered spouts which would simultaneously dispense the components for mixing.
Producing these dental cement packaging required equipping our vertical form-fill-seal packaging equipment with dedicated product contact parts to keep the base and accelerator separate. Plastic and foil laminated packaging film was reverse printed, with the print laminated between the layers of the packaging film to protect it from abrasion or contact with the cement components. The packets featured a tear notch, lot coding, and expiration date information. Final overall part dimensions were 2-1/4″ in length, 1-3/4″ in width with a weight of 0.600 – 1.800 g (± 0.130 g).
Quality control processes included digital test stand compression testing and digital gram-scale weigh testing as well as component/batch traceability and labeling/product accountability.
